क़ुरग़ोनतेप्पा (ताजिक: Қурғонтеппа, قرغانتپه, Qurghonteppa), जिसे सोवियत संघ के ज़माने में कुर्गान-त्युबे (ताजिक: Курган-Тюбе, Kurgan-Tyube) कहा जाता था, दक्षिणपश्चिमी ताजिकिस्तान में स्थित एक शहर है जो उस देश के ख़तलोन प्रान्त की राजधानी भी है। यह ताजिकिस्तान की राष्ट्रीय राजधानी दूशान्बे से १०० कि॰मी॰ दूर वख़्श नदी के किनारे बसा हुआ है। क़ुरग़ोनतेप्पा ताजिकिस्तान का चौथा सबसे बड़ा नगर है और एक आधुनिक ओद्योगिक केन्द्र है।[1] इस क्षेत्र में ताजिकिस्तान की सरकार के राजनैतिक विरोध में कई अभियान चले हैं।[2][3]
नाम का अर्थ व उच्चारण संपादित करें
'क़ुरग़ोनतेप्पा' में बिन्दु-वाले 'ग़' अक्षर के उच्चारण पर ध्यान दें क्योंकि यह बिना बिन्दु वाले 'ग' से ज़रा भिन्न है। इसका उच्चारण 'ग़लती' और 'ग़रीब' शब्दों के 'ग़' से मिलता है। इसी शब्द में बिन्दु-वाले 'क़' अक्षर का उच्चारण भी 'क' से मिलता-जुलता लेकिन भिन्न है और 'क़ीमत' व 'क़ानून' जैसे शब्दों में मिलता है। मध्य एशिया में 'क़ुरग़ोन' या 'कुर्गान' इस क्षेत्र की ऐतिहासिक संस्कृतियों द्वारा बनाए जाने वाले कृत्रिम टीलों को कहते थे जिनमें अक्सर सांस्कृतिक या राजसी महत्व की वस्तुएँ दफ़नाई जाती थी, हालांकि अन्य इसका अर्थ 'क़िला' भी निकाला जाता है। यह शब्द मध्य एशिया के अन्य नगरों व क्षेत्रों के नामों में भी मिलता है, मसलन चीन द्वारा नियंत्रित शिनजियांग प्रान्त के ताशक़ुरग़ान शहर के नाम में। 'तेप्पा' या 'तेपे' भी मध्य एशिया में 'टीले' को कहते हैं। क़ुरग़ोनतेप्पा से लगभग १२ किमी दूर ७वीं शताब्दी में बने 'अजीना तेप्पे' नामक एक प्राचीन बौद्ध मठ के खंडहर स्थित हैं जहाँ मिली मूर्तियों और प्रतिमाओं की अजंता से समानता बताई जाती है।[4][5]

सोवियत काल में उस समय की सरकार ने ताजिकिस्तान के अन्य भागों से ताजिक लोगों के साथ-साथ सोवियत संघ के अन्य हिस्सों से उज़बेक, तातार, रूसी, काज़ाख़ और अन्य समुदायों के सदस्य लाकर इस क्षेत्र में बसाए थे। इस कारणवश क़ुरग़ोनतेप्पा का जातीय मिश्रण ताजिकिस्तान के अन्य शहरों की तुलना में अधिक है।[6]
