भारत और पाकिस्तान में ख़सरा एक कृषि-सम्बन्धी क़ानूनी दस्तावेज़ होता है जिसमें किसी गाँव के ज़मीन के किसी टुकड़े और उस पर उगाई जा रही फसलों का ब्यौरा लिखा होता है।[1] इसका प्रयोग एक शजरा नामक दस्तावेज़ के साथ किया जाता है जिसमें पूरे गाँव का मानचित्र होता है जो उस गाँव की सभी भूमि-पट्टियों की जानकारी देता है। इन पट्टियों का ब्यौरा ही ख़सरों में होता है।[1][2] पारम्परिक रूप से ख़सरों में हर खेत और उसके क्षेत्रफल व अन्य मापों का, उसके मालिक का और उसपर काम करने वालों कृषकों का, उसपर उगने वाली फसलों का, उसकी मिट्टी के प्रकार का और उसपर उग रहे वृक्षों का विवरण होता है।[1]

ख़तौनी संपादित करें

अगर गाँव के ख़सरों को प्रयोग करके किसी एक व्यक्ति या परिवार के स्वामित्व वाली भूखण्डों की सूची बनाई जाए तो उसे 'ख़तौनी' कहते हैं। यानि किसी व्यक्ति या परिवार के सभी ख़सरों Archived 2023-01-21 at the वेबैक मशीन की सूची उस व्यक्ति/परिवार की ख़तौनी में होती है।[1]

इतिहास संपादित करें

ख़सरों का प्रयोग भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में सदियों से चला आ रहा है और ब्रिटिश राज से बहुत पहले शुरू हो गया था। मध्यकालीन ख़सरों को देखकर भारत व पाकिस्तान के अलग-अलग क्षेत्रों के आर्थिक इतिहास के बारे में बहुत जानकारी मिलती है।[3]
