"आकाशगंगा": अवतरणों में अंतर

Sachau | year=2001 | publisher=Routledge | isbn= 9780415244978| url=http://books.google.com/?id=a91-t4uw8A4C | quote=''... revolves around Kshira, i.e. the Milky Way ...''}}</ref> भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप के बाहर भी कई सभ्यताओं को आकाशगंगा दूधिया लगी। "गैलॅक्सी" शब्द का मूल [[यूनानी भाषा]] का "गाला" (γάλα) शब्द है, जिसका अर्थ भी दूध होता है। [[फ़ारसी]] संस्कृत की ही तरह एक [[हिन्द-ईरानी भाषा]] है, इसलिए उसका "दूध" के लिए शब्द संस्कृत के "क्षीर" से मिलता-जुलता [[सजातीय शब्द]] "शीर" है और आकाशगंगा को "राह-ए-शीरी" ({{Nastaliq|ur|راه شیری}}) बुलाया जाता है। [[अंग्रेजी]] में आकाशगंगा को "मिल्की वे" ([[:en:Milky Way|Milky Way]]) बुलाया जाता है, जिसका अर्थ भी "दूध का मार्ग" ही है।
