"अहुरा मज़्दा": अवतरणों में अंतर

'अहुरा' शब्द संस्कृत 'असुर' से सम्बन्धित है और 'मज़्दा' शब्द संस्कृत 'मेधा' से। [[ऋग्वेद]] में वरुण और कई देवताओं को 'असुर' की उपाधि दी गयी है (वैसे भी अहुरा मज़्दा के कई नामों में से एक है 'वरुन्')। इससे पता चलता है कि प्राचीन ईरानी लोग 'असुरों' की पूजा करते थे (जिनमें शायद कुछेक देव भी शामिल थे), और हिन्दुस्तानी आर्य लोग देवों की पूजा करते थे (जिनमें कुछेक असुर भी शामिल थे)।<ref name="ref17focig">[http://books.google.com/books?id=8dKeJH3f59IC An introduction to ancient Iranian religion: readings from the Avesta and Achaemenid inscriptions], William W.
