Hello Siddhartha Ghai, greetings from [[:as:|Assamese wikipedia]]. I have seen that you have implemented a gadget in Hindi Wikipedia to convert Arabic numerals to Devanagari numerals. In Assamese Wikipedia we are also interested in implementation a similar gadget. We are trying to figure out what needs to be done. Since it is a somewhat complicated process and we lack technically sound community members, I am seeking your help to achieve us do so. As you will see from the history of [[मीडियाविकि:Gadget-Numeral_converter.js]], the gadget is maintained by [[User:Krinkle|Krinkle]], who did most of the javascript heavy lifting in the creation of the gadget. He's probably much better suited for helping you in implementing this gadget at the Assamese Wikipedia.
On the off chance that he's busy, here is the basic info:
#The gadget uses three pages:
##The gadget definition (ie description) that appears in the preferences, at [[मीडियाविकि:Gadget-Numeral converter]]
##The javascript gadget at [[मीडियाविकि:Gadget-Numeral converter.js]]
##The css (styling) for the gadget at [[मीडियाविकि:Gadget-Numeral converter.css]]
#The gadget is only for how the numbers appear to a user. It does not affect how the numbers are input on wikipedia, ie it has no effect on using parser functions, templates etc.
#As far as I can see, the information that would be needed for implementing the gadget for assamese would be the content in the msgs object in [[मीडियाविकि:Gadget-Numeral_converter.js]] as required for the Assamese Wikipedia.
