Founder’s Message

The aim of education is to prepare the youth to educate themselves throughout their life. The only person to be educated is one who has learned and changed. Thus in this high-tech world we accept the challenge to train and mould the younger generation who are living on compromises and are victims of selfish interests and devaluing in life. The aim of education is to prepare the youth to educate themselves throughout their life. The only person to be educated is one who has learned and changed. Thus in this high-tech world we accept the challenge to train and mould the younger generation who are living on compromises and are victims of selfish interests and devaluing in life.

"Let us have good thoughts from all sides" - Rigveda, 1-89-i; The Guru sets the price and direction for the benefit of each student in the "School of Hotel Management and Tourism Studies" of Guru Karshni Mahavidyalay. It is necessary that students understand it clearly and imbibe its spirit. In a crumbling world under the influence of a policy-driven technological storm, we try to hold fast to those fundamental values.

For whom our culture purifies body and mind, it transforms instinct, passion and emotions into beauty. These values are embedded in our national outlook. We command respect for the world because of them. We can move forward with confidence for the future. It is the responsibility on our shoulder to give great value to the younger generation and the resulting economic prosperity and decent heritage.

Our systematic administration and time management is another inspiring factor for our young students. We train our students for incomparable creativity and artistic skills with superior aesthetic sense. We teach sportsmanship, by which they maintain order, self-discipline and give life a certain shape again. To be successful in this holy mission one must have unwavering devotion and dedication to their goal. I strongly feel that there are three key social members - father, mother and teacher who can create a better tomorrow. Therefore, the challenge before parents and teachers is to "sacrifice their today so that the students can have a better tomorrow".

A loving and praying family is the backbone of our society. So let love rule your family and prayer can become a shield to protect you from possible harm. Have the utmost respect for your teachers and get the best out of them so that you can grow in the fullness of knowledge and wisdom. Come and join us in our continuous effort to transform the new generation into a best for the future.

Here is more information about each of these types and some of the specific jobs associated with both categories. Keep in mind that this is certainly not an exhaustive list of jobs - just the most common jobs in the hotel industry.

Guest Services/Entry level

Front Desk Officer: As the name implies, these employees man the reception area, which is the first place guests go when they arrive at a hotel. As a front desk officer you'll need to verify a guest's reservation. If the guest doesn't have a reservation, you'll need to check room availability. The check in process for guests usually includes getting credit card information, giving the guest the pass card to enter the room, and answering any questions the guest has. Front desk employees also often take phone calls and make reservations.

Other front-of-the-house hospitality jobs include:

Casino Host

Cruise Ship Attendant

Front Desk Associate

Front Desk Supervisor and

Front Desk Attendant

   Front-of-House Manager

Gaming Dealer

Porters: These employees also used to be called bellhops, and in some hotels they still are. They usually dress in uniform, so that guests recognize that they are employees of the hotel. As soon as a guest checks in at the front desk, the porter helps the guest take his or her luggage to the room and makes sure the room is acceptable to the guest. Often the porter is asked questions about other services at the hotel, so he or she should be knowledgeable of all the hotel has to offer. Porters are usually hired at full service hotels, not motels. Porters are tasked with handling baggage for guests. They might bring luggage up to guests’ rooms or take luggage down to the lobby. A porter is one of many support staff positions in the hospitality industry. Another common position is that of valet (also known as parking lot attendant). A valet parks patrons’ cars when they come to a hotel, restaurant, or other venue.

Concierges: At full service and high end or luxury hotels, concierges are available to act as liaisons with guests. If a guest needs a specific service, such as a babysitter, the guest can contact the concierge, who will coordinate the execution of this service. Other services the concierges assist with include making arrangements for dry cleaning and laundry, purchasing show tickets, and making reservations at local restaurants. A concierge interacts directly with customers, providing them with various services. They act as liaisons, providing guests with particular services they request or they anticipate what they might need. These services could range from providing a babysitter to getting tickets to a show to suggesting a restaurant. A concierge needs to be a problem solver with extensive customer-service skills who is unflappable and can handle difficult patrons.

Housekeeping: Nothing reflects worse on a hotel than dirty rooms or an unclean lobby area. Hotels rely on repeat business, and guests usually won't return to a hotel they think is dirty. Having a quality housekeeping staff on the premises ensures that the hotel is clean, rooms are clean, and guests will return. As a member of housekeeping you may have to clean guest rooms, wash bedding and towels, replace toiletries that have been used, and clean other areas of the hotel. Housekeepers are responsible for maintaining a standard of cleanliness throughout a hotel or other hospitality venue. They typically clean individual hotel rooms as well as the common areas. They make beds; do laundry, clean bathrooms, stock linens, and more. Being a housekeeper requires some physical stamina because you often have to lift heavy loads and be on your feet most of the day. There are many other jobs related to maintenance and cleaning in the hospitality industry. There are also opportunities for management positions within the fields of maintenance and cleaning.

Guests who want to eat but don't want to leave the hotel or go to the hotel restaurant (if there is one) can order from a menu in their room. As a room service employee you may be taking room service orders, and then delivering them.

Waiter/Waitress: If the hotel has a restaurant, it also needs waiters and waitresses. In a hotel, the most requested meal is usually breakfast, so be prepared to work early hours. The next most frequently served meal is dinner. You will need to take guests' orders, and serve the meals, making sure they have everything they need. Some hotels allow guests to bill to their rooms, while others take payment. You will need to make sure the bill for the meal gets to the right place so it can be paid. Waiters and waitresses work in restaurants, bars, hotels, casinos, and other food-serving establishments. They interact directly with customers taking orders, serving food and beverages, and take payments from patrons. For that, waiters and waitresses must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. They also have to be detail-oriented because they need to remember customers’ orders, especially complicated drink orders. This job is ideal for people in the hospitality industry who want to engage with customers face-to-face.

They typically order all of the food, plan the meals, and prepare food in the kitchen. Most people work their way up to executive chef from entry-level roles like line cooks.
