==कथित पृष्ठभूमितौर ==पर अभीएक तकआरक्षित कीनिर्वाचन जानकारीक्षेत्र के मुताबिक कुछ स्थानीय मुस्लिम युवकों द्वारा पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी एवम् हिन्दू देवियों की आपत्तिजनक तस्वीरें शेयर की गई थी उस तस्वीर के जवाब में दलित कांग्रेस विधायक के रिश्तेदार द्वारा [[मुहम्मद|पैगंबर मुहम्मद]] कीपर एक तस्वीरफेसबुक शेयरपोस्ट कर दी गई ओर इसी प्रतिउत्तर के विरोध में मुस्लिमो कि उन्मादी भीड़ नेपर 11 अगस्त 2020 की रात को आगजनीदंगे हिंसाभड़क शुरू कर दी अतिवादी मुस्लिमउठे। भीड़ कांग्रेस विधायक अखण्ड श्रीनिवास मूर्ति के कायल बैरासांद्र आवास के बाहर जमा होकर उन्मादीतकबीर मजहबीके नारे लगाने लगेलगी। भीड़ ने मूर्ति के भतीजे कहे जाने वाले नवीन की गिरफ्तारी की मांग करते हुए आगजनी का सहारा लिया। <ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.timesnownews.com/bengaluru/article/bengaluru-violence-what-happened-in-bengaluru-last-night-here-s-all-you-need-to-know/635668|title=Bengaluru violence: What happened in Bengaluru last night? एक अन्य उन्मादी भीड़ पुलिस स्टेशन की तरफ गयी गई और विधायक के भतीजे के खिलाफ प्राथमिकी दर्ज करने को लेकर दबाव बनाने लगी लेकिन जब पुलिस ने [[प्राथमिकी]] मामलेलिखने कीसे प्राथमिक तफ्तीश के बाद ही एफआईआर करने का भरोसा दिया था लेकिनइनकार वोकिया उन्मादीतो भीड़ ने हिंसक रूप धारण कर लिया और डीजे हल्ली पुलिस स्टेशन पर हमला कर दिया, परिसर में आग लगा दी और वाहनों में तोड़फोड़ की। कुछ ने दंगों में मोलोटोव कॉकटेल का भी इस्तेमाल किया। स्थिति को नियंत्रित करने के लिए पुलिस ने गोलियां चलाईं जिसमें कम से कम दो प्रदर्शनकारी मारे गए। पूरे [[बंगलौर]] शहर में [[विधिविरुद्ध जमाव|धारा 144 के]] तहत था और केजी हल्ली और डीजे हल्ली पुलिस थाना क्षेत्रों में कर्फ्यू लगा दिया गया। पुलिस ने दंगों में 60 जवानों के घायल होने की सूचना दी।
