वोल्टा का जन्म कोमो में १८ फरवरी, १७४५ को हुआ। यह विद्युत को एक रासायनिक क्रियाओं के द्वारा करके जैसे गोबर गैस कहते हैं उसी के द्वारा इन्होंने किरिया करवा कर विद्युत को उत्पन्न किया और उस विद्युत को तारों में प्रवाहित किया जिसको हम अपने छोटे छोटे कामों में ला सकते हैं इन्होंने उस विद्युत का जल विद्युत नाम दिया था। जिसे हम पहले अपने कामों में लाते थे।
