You're the world's expert on some topic and you'd like to write about it — great! This tutorial covers how you can create an article on Wikipedia. For illustration, we'll use the nonsense term "pedagogical carphology".
This tutorial assumes that you already have a user account. You'll need one to create an article. You can learn how to do that in this video tutorial.

Basic rule संपादित करें
The main rule for creating articles is: clicking on any redlink will open an editing window for a new article. Once you type something into the edit window and save it, the article is created.
How do you get a redlink with the article title you want? You might stumble across pedagogical carphology in another article, in which case you should just click on that redlink. However, you might not be so lucky. Instead, you have two other options: use the Search box, or create the redlink yourself.
Searching for your article संपादित करें
It's good to search for your article anyway before creating it, because it might exist already on Wikipedia, but possibly under a different name or spelling. You can begin your search on Google; simply type your topic and add "site:wikipedia.org" to the search string. If you'd like to do an especially in-depth search, you can scan some relevant Wikipedia categories. For example, to find pedagogical carphology, you might think of searching Category:Pedagogy or examine the categories at the bottom of the pedagogy or carphology articles.
Once you've done your initial searches, type your topic into the Wikipedia Search box in the left-hand column, and scan the results. If you don't see anything appropriate, click on the redlink at the top of the page and start your article.
Add the redlink to an existing page संपादित करें
If your article title contains unusual characters, you can add the redlink to an existing page. Recall that all wikilinks are enclosed in double square brackets. Thus, you can add
or the Greek-lettered version
to your sandbox or user page. Click on the resulting redlink, add some text, save it, and voila! your article is created.
Type the article name into the browser URL bar संपादित करें
You can also type the article title directly into the browser URL, such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedagogical_carphology, and hit return. Note that spaces are represented by underscores. On the resulting page, click on the top blue link labeled Start the Pedagogical carphology article. This quick method is especially useful for starting subpages of an existing page.
Guidelines for article titles संपादित करें
Wikipedia has a few customs and guidelines for article titles. In general, article titles are nouns and singular; for example, Wikipedia has a cat article but no "cats" article. Definite and indefinite articles are not used at the beginning; for example, the Eiffel Tower article does not have the title "The Eiffel Tower". In general, the first word is capitalized but all subsequent words are not, as in Common cold. These are the most important guidelines, but others are given under Wikipedia:Naming conventions.
