This rcat template is automatically added to all new redirects that result from page moves; it must be added manually to older redirects when appropriate.

When used with the "This is a redirect" (Redr) template:

Template {{This is a redirect}} may be used to add from one to seven rcat templates, along with their parameters and categories, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation page below.

When used by itself:

Usage

Use this rcat template in any namespace.

• This redirect category (rcat) template is used to automatically (and manually) categorize redirect pages in any namespace that result when a page has been moved (renamed). This rcat populates श्रेणी:Redirects from moves, which is used to track all page moves that, if a redirect is not left behind, would result in the breakage of links, both internal wikilinks and external internet website links.
• For redirects that have been left behind from page moves and have not yet been categorized, add this rcat in the following manner:

#REDIRECT [[(target page name)]]

• Template {{This is a redirect}} may also be used to add this and up to seven appropriate rcats to a redirect.

Printworthiness

• In main-article namespace, many redirects from moved pages are considered unprintworthy; however, there are many others that are printworthy, so there is no default sort for printworthiness. At some point in the future, Jimmy Wales wants to make more printed versions of Wikipedia encyclopedia articles. Some rcats automatically populate either श्रेणी:Printworthy redirects or श्रेणी:Unprintworthy redirects by default. Others, like this rcat, do not, and that means it is up to editors to choose which of those categories, Printworthy or Unprintworthy, is appropriate and should be populated. The rcats that are used separately to populate those categories are:

• {{R printworthy}} and
• {{R unprintworthy}}

• Template {{This is a redirect}} will accept these rcats just like any other.
