प्रेम चंद पाण्डेय

डॉ॰ प्रेम चंद पाण्डेय भारतीय वैज्ञानिक और शिक्षाविद हैं[1]। वे राष्ट्रीय अंटार्कटिक एवं समुद्री अनुसंधान केंद्र के संस्थापक निदेशक है[2][3][4][5][6][7][8] और वर्तमान में प्रोफेसर पाण्डेय भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान गाँधीनगर में भूगर्भ विज्ञान विभाग में एक प्रोफेसर के रूप में 1 जनवरी 2021 से कार्यरत हैं[9]। पाण्डेय भारतीय विज्ञान के सर्वोच्च पुरस्कार, शांतिस्वरूप भटनागर पुरस्कार से सम्मानित हैं[10]। उन्होने सुदूर संवेदन, उपग्रह महासागरीय विज्ञान, वायुमण्डलीय विज्ञान, अंटार्कटिक और जलवायु परिवर्तन के क्षेत्र में कार्य किया है[11]।

परिचय संपादित करें

प्रेम चंद पाण्डेय का जन्म १० अगस्त, १९४५ को उत्तर प्रदेश के आजमगढ़ के रामापुर गाँव में हुआ था। वे इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय से क्रमशः विज्ञान, भौतिकी में स्नातक और परास्नातक हैं तथा यही से विज्ञान (इलक्ट्रोनिक्स भौतिकी में सूक्ष्म तरंग) में शोध भी किये है। भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (इसरो) के अंतरिक्ष अनुप्रयोग केंद्र, अहमदाबाद में ये वरिष्ठ वैज्ञानिक पद पर कार्य कर चुके हैं और ये यहां के मौसमविज्ञान और महासागरीय विभाग के संस्थापक विभाग प्रमुख भी रहे हैं।[12][13][14][15][16] [17][18][19][20][21][22]। प्रोफेसर मुरली मनोहर जोशी द्वारा 2000 में श्रीगणेशित किये जाने के बाद केदारेश्वर(के.) बनर्जी वायुमंडलीय एवम महासागर अध्ययन केंद्र, इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय को प्रारंभिक दिनों की अनुसंधान परियोजना अन्तर्गत कार्यरत प्रारंभिक अवस्था से लेकर 2009 में स्थाई शिक्षकों की नियुक्ति के साथ इलाहाबाद विश्विद्यालय का पूर्णतः स्थाई केंद्र हो जाने तक इसकी पूर्ण स्थापना प्रोफेसर प्रेमचंद पाण्डेय द्वारा ही की गयी।[23] इसके अलावा भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान खड़गपुर के महासागर नदी वायुमंडल एवं भूमि केंद्र में 2005 से 2007 अतिथि आचार्य तथा 2007 से 31 अगस्त 2011 तक इमेरिटस आचार्य रहे [24] व् भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान भुवनेश्वर के भूमि महासागर व् जलवायु विज्ञान विद्यापीठ में सितम्बर, 2011 से 19 नवम्बर 2017 तक इमेरिटस आचार्य रहे[25][26][27][28][29] तथा इनकी स्थापना में इनकी प्रमुख भूमिका रही है जो इनके भारत में महासागर, नदी, वायुमंडल, पृथ्वी, अंतरिक्ष विज्ञान और जलवायु विज्ञान क्षेत्र में अमूल्य योगदान को प्रमाणित करता है। पाण्डेय 20 नवम्बर 2017 को पुनः आई आई टी खडगपुर के महासागर नदी भूमि व वायुमण्डल केन्द्र मे अतिथि आचार्य नियुक्त हुये|प्रोफेसर पाण्डेय ने भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान खड़गपुर में पुनः 20 नवम्बर 2017 से 25 नवम्बर 2020 तक कार्य किया .[30] वर्तमान में प्रोफेसर पाण्डेय भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान गाँधीनगर में भूगर्भ विज्ञान विभाग में एक प्रोफेसर के रूप में 1 जनवरी 2021 से कार्यरत हैं[31]
