संग्रहालय
संग्रहालय एक संस्थान है जो कलात्मक, सांस्कृतिक, ऐतिहासिक या वैज्ञानिक महत्व की कृतियों और अन्य वस्तुओं के संग्रह की देखभाल और प्रदर्शन करता है। कई सार्वजनिक संग्रहालय इन वस्तुओं को प्रदर्शन के माध्यम से जनता के देखने के लिए उपलब्ध कराते हैं जो स्थायी या अस्थायी हो सकते हैं।[1] सबसे बड़े संग्रहालय विश्व भर के प्रमुख नगरों में स्थित हैं, जबकि हजारों स्थानीय संग्रहालय छोटे नगरों, कस्बों और ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में उपस्थित हैं। संग्रहालयों के विभिन्न उद्देश्य हैं, उनके संग्रह के संरक्षण और दस्तावेज़ीकरण से लेकर, शोधकर्ताओं और विशेषज्ञों की सेवा, जनसाधारण के खानपान तक। शोधकर्ताओं की सेवा करने का लक्ष्य न केवल वैज्ञानिक है, बल्कि साधारण जनता की सेवा करना है।
चित्रशाला , प्राकृतिक इतिहास संग्रहालय, विज्ञान संग्रहालय, स्थानीय इतिहास संग्रहालय और बाल संग्रहालय सहित कई प्रकार के संग्रहालय हैं। अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय संग्रहालय परिषद् के अनुसार, 202 देशों में 55,000 से अधिक संग्रहालय हैं।[2]
