मोहिनी माया दास
डोरा मोहिनी माया दास एक भारतीय शिक्षाविद और वक्ता थीं। वे यंग विमेंस क्रिस्चियन एसोसिएशन (YWCA) की भारत, बर्मा और सीलोन के लिए की सहयोगी महासचिव थीं।
प्राथमिक जीवन और शिक्षा संपादित करें
डोरा मोहिनी माया दास मूलतः फिरोजपुर से थीं,[1] उनके मसीही माता-पिता का नाम, राय बहादुर माया दास[2] और मोहिनी चंदुलाल[3][4] था। उनकी दो बहनें थीं, जिनमें से एक, कॉन्स्टेंस प्रेम नाथ दास (1886-1971), एक छात्र नेता थी,[5][6] तथा दूसरी बहन, गुणवती माया दास ने 1918 में बम्बई के पहले हिंदुस्तानी गवर्नर राजा महाराज सिंह से शादी की थी।[4]
माध्यमिक शिक्षा पूर्ण करने के बाद, उन्होंने, लाहौर के फॉर्मन क्रिश्चियन कॉलेज में दाख़िला लिया, जहाँपर वो दाख़िल होने वाली पहली तीन महिलाओं में से एक थीं। तत्पश्चात उन्होंने मैसाचुसेट्स में लड़कियों के लिए नॉर्थ फील्ड स्कूल फॉर गर्ल्स से पढ़ाई की।[7] तथा वे माउंट होली ओक कॉलेज में पढ़ाई करने वाली पहली हिंदुस्तानी छात्र थीं। उन्होंने 1909 में स्नातक की डिग्री हासिल की।[8] माउंट होली ओक कॉलेज में रहते हुए, उन्हें डोरा माया दास के नाम से जाना जाता था, तथा उस न्याम से वे छात्र प्रकाशनों के लिए लिखा करती थीं।[9][10] 1909 में माउंट होली ओक ड्रामाटिक क्लब द्वारा उनका लिखा एक नाटक, द हिन्दू वाइफ ऑफ़ राम लाल का प्रदर्शन किया गया था।[7] स्नातक की पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद, वेस्टफील्ड, न्यूयॉर्क में वाईडब्ल्यूसीए के माया दास क्लब को उनके सम्मान में नामित किया गया था।[11]
व्यावसायिक जीवन संपादित करें
मोहिनी माया दास 1920 से 1923 तक भारत, बर्मा और सीलोन के लिए वाईडब्ल्यूसीए की सहयोगी महासचिव[12] और 1922 से 1923 तक वर्ल्ड स्टूडेंट क्रिस्चियन फेडरेशन (WSCF) की महासमिति की उपाध्यक्ष थीं।[13] बाद में, उन्होंने 1922 में बीजिंग में वर्ल्ड स्टूडेंट क्रिस्चियन फेडरेशन सम्मेलन को संबोधित किया।[14][15]
बीजिंग में अपना संबोधन देने के समय तक माया दास, भारत में कार्य कर रहे श्वेत पश्चिमी लोगों की बड़ी आलोचक बन चुकी थीं।[16]
निजी जीवन संपादित करें
मोहिनी माया दास ने 1924 की शुरुआत में जे॰एन॰ दास के साथ विवाह किया था।[12] उन्होंने 1930 के दशक तक धार्मिक विषयों पर लेखन और व्याख्यान जारी रखा।[17]
