डॉ कपिल कपूर भारतीय बौद्धिक परम्परा के प्रतिनिधि विद्वान हैं। वे [[जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय]] के भूतपूर्व उपकुलपति रह चुके हैं।
 
== शिक्षण एवं अनुसंधान ==
डॉ कपिल कपूर पिछले ५२ वर्षों से शिक्षण के क्षेत्र में हैं। उन्के मार्गदर्शन में ४१ शोधार्थियों को पीएचडी एवं ३६ को एम-फिल की उपाधि मिल चुकी है। १९९६ से १९९९ तक वे जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय] के भाषा, साहित्य एवं संस्कृति अध्ययन विद्यालय के डीन रहे तथा १९९९ से २००२ तक इस विश्वविद्यालय के रेक्टर रहे। उनकी शिक्षण एवं अनुसंधान गतिविधियों में साहित्यिक एवं भाषायी सिद्धान्त (भारतीय एवं पाश्चात्य) , भाषा-दर्शन, १९वीं शताब्दी के ब्रिटेन का जनजीवन, साहित्य एवं विचार, भारतीय बौद्धिक परम्पराएँ, आदि शामिल हैं। इन विषयों पर उन्होने जमकर लिखा है। सन २००५ में वे जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय स्जीए स्न्यूएवानिव्र्त हुए।

Two of his books, ''Abhinavagupta Manuscripts'' and ''Irish-Indian Anthology'' (with Professors Welch and Mac Mathuna of the University of Ulster, UK, as co-editors) are under publication. Another book ''Concept and Taxonomy of Knowledge in History of Science, Culture and Civilization'', D.P.Chattopadhyaya, General Editor, in the Volume edited by Professor G.C.Pande is also under publication as on February 2013. Dr. Kapoor is also working on ''Encyclopedia of Indian Poetics'', as Chief Editor, under a Sahitya Akademi Project.
