• • Good question. The datasource is from the Indian census 2001 and is in English. I have been translating the data myself and using it at the moment in Nepal bhasa(with some reference from the bangla / manipuri translations wherever required). However, Mahitgar from Marathi wikipedia pointed me out abt the differences between the spelling in Nepal bhasa and other langauges. Eg-nufta and "imported" "a" are not used in Nepal bhasa. So, I am thinking of translating as best as I can and request the suddhalekhan project people to look after it. However, due to my personal reasons and due to the responsibility of the entire Nepal Bhasa wikipedia, I might take some time before I start running the bot here. Hello. The standard bot policy was updated to allow global bots, which are now technically possible. These are trusted bots that will be given bot access on all wikis that allow global bots (the local policy or request page must explicitly allow them, or they won't get access on this wiki). The current requirements for global bots are:

• the bot must only maintain interlanguage links or fix double-redirects;

This means that it looks for a corresponding page on the english wikipedia, finds the categories on en-wp the page is in, trace them back via interwikis to hi-wp, and add those categories to the page here?

If that is the case, meaning that it duplicates the category structure on en-wp, I don't think I'd be comfortable having this for pages other than the mainspace. This would essentially bind us to use the same category structure that en-wp uses, regardless of whether we like it or not. Personally I find the category structure at en-wp to be quite weird at many places and wouldn't really want a labyrinth like that here. We should also consider that the system at en-wp is so vast because of the amount of content. With less than 5% of the number of articles on en-wp, I don't think we want to have that large a system in place which would make maintainance without bots to be quite difficult. Plus, for the mainspace it would mean that we would have to adhere to similar categorization policies as en-wp, which is clearly not the way it should be (policies aren't made per the bots, bots are made per policies).

When we get a clear policy on categorization, if it is in alignment with en-wp, such categories may be added. Until then I am not in support of this bot activity.--सिद्धार्थ घई (वार्ता) 16:43, 10 अप्रैल 2012 (UTC)

If this division of manual and bot edits among the two accounts is acceptable to you, then I have no problems in Kolega2357-Bot being given bot status (assuming you use the same script for that account).

मेरे विचार से वर्तनी परिवर्तन का काम (स्वयं या बाट द्वारा, दोनो ही) बिल को देना ठीक नहीं है। इसका कारण यह है कि बिल स्वयं वर्तनी सम्बन्धी गलतियों के लिए जाने जाते हैं (विश्वविद्यालय या विश्वविधालय?)। अपने अधिकारों के दुरुपयोग के लिए भी वे जाने जाते हैं (इसके लिए सदस्यों के बहुमत ने उनको प्रबन्धक पद से हटाने के लिए मतदान किया हुआ है।)। वे फिजी विकि पर काम का सन्दर्भ दे रहे हैं, लेकिन वर्तनी सुधार की दृष्टि से फिजी हिन्दी पर काम करना उपयोगी कम, अनुपयोगी अधिक है। कारण यह है कि फिजी हिन्दी रोमन लिपि में लिखी जाती है तथा फिजी शब्द और उनकी रोमन वर्तनी के संगत देवनागरी वर्तनी बहुत अलग हो सकते है। -- अनुनाद सिंह^{वार्ता} 05:46, 30 सितंबर 2013 (UTC)

वर्तमान परिस्थति में ये संपादन भी अर्ध-मैन्युअल हैं। मेरे अनुसार अलग खाते की जरूरत तब पड़ती है जब आप बॉट (स्क्रिप्ट) इस्तेमाल करते हैं। फिजियन हिन्दी की इसके प्रति कोई निति नहीं है इसलिए मैं अंग्रेज़ी विकि की नीतियों का पालन कर रहा हूँ। बस दोनों विकि (en और hif) पर अन्तर इतना रहता है कि अंग्रेज़ी विकि पर मैं संपादन प्रति मिनट कम रखता हूँ और फ़िजी हिन्दी पर थोड़ा ज्यादा, ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि हिन्दी फ़िजी पर सक्रिय सदस्यों की बहुत कमी है जिस कारण कई बार कई-कई दिनों तक कोई संपादन ही नहीं होता ऐसी परिस्थिति में मेरे द्वारा 'हाल में हुए परिवर्तन' को अपने संपादन से भर देने से कोई नुकसान नहीं होता। वैसे अंग्रेज़ी विकि पर भी कई सदस्य अपने मुख्य खाते से लेख निर्माण और रखरखाव करते हैं।<>< बिल विलियम कॉम्पटन^{वार्ता} 13:38, 29 सितंबर 2013 (UTC)

मनोज जी से सहमत हूँ । कृपया करके हमें इस विषय में थोड़ी और जानकारी दें। मैंने अंग्रेजी विकिपीडिया पर AutoWikiBrowser पृष्ट पढ़ा, पर इसमें मुझे अधिक जानकारी नहीं मिली । व्यक्तिगत तौर पर मैं ऐसे बॉट का समर्थन करता हूँ, क्यूंकि कभी कभी छोटे छोटे काम ही सबसे ज्यादा समय लेते हैं, और इसके आने से हिंदी विकिपीडिया (जहाँ एक भी ऐसा बॉट सक्रिय नहीं है!) की भलाई होगी। यह कहते हुए भी हमें याद रखना चाहिए, की यह हानिकारक भी हो सकते हैं। क्या ऐसा संभव है की हम इस बॉट का प्रयोग हिंदी विकिपीडिया पर कुछ सीमित पन्नों पर करे, और नतीजा देखें (as a test run)? मेरे ख्याल से ऐसा करने से सभी सदस्यों की मन की दुविधा मिट जाएगी। ➟ शुभम कानोडिया (वार्ता) 09:37, 4 अक्टूबर 2013 (UTC)

बॉट होने से वे कार्य जिन्हें मैन्युअली करना मुश्किल है उन्हें आसानी से किया जा सकता है। इससे कम महनत और समय में ज्यादा काम करवाया जा सकता है। उदहारण के लिए थोड़े समय पूर्व हुई चर्चा के पश्चात गोआ को गोवा पर स्थान्तरित किया गया था। इसके पश्चात मैने अर्थ-स्वचालित तरीके से गोवा सम्बन्धित सभी लेखों (गोवा सरकार, पणजी, आदि) में से श्रेणी:गोआ या उसकी "गोआ" वर्तनी वाली उप-श्रेणियों को हटा कर उचित श्रेणी:गोवा या उसकी उप-श्रेणियाँ लगाई थीं। इसी प्रकार आशीष जी के अनुरोध पर मैने {{जम्मू एवं कश्मीर की जलराशियाँ}} साँचा लेखों में लगाया था। इसके बहुत फायदे हैं। अभी बिना बॉट खाते के मुझे समय थोड़ा अधिक लगता है और बॉट खाते के साथ समय और महनत में और अधिक कमी आएगी। मेरे द्वारा अनुरोधित बॉट से कोई भी सदस्य ऐसे कार्य करवा पाएगा। वर्तमान में अंग्रेज़ी विकि पर इस समय 283 बॉट सक्रिय हैं और हमारे यहाँ एक भी नहीं। बॉट द्वारा लेखों का निर्माण भी किया जा सकता है, इसके द्वारा मैने फ़िजी हिन्दी विकि पर कई सौ लेखों का निर्माण हाल ही में किया है, उदहारण के लिए इस श्रेणी और इसकी उप-श्रेणियों में आने वाले सभी लेख मैने ऐसे ही बनाए हैं। शुभम जी आप देख सकते हैं कि मैने कुछ ही बल्कि कई पृष्ठों पर इसका इस्तेमाल किया है, आप समीक्षा करलें व कोई प्रश्न हो तो अवश्य पूछें।<>< बिल विलियम कॉम्पटन^{वार्ता} 09:51, 4 अक्टूबर 2013 (UTC)

   विकिपीडिया पर कुछ कार्य जिन्हें मैन्युअली करना मुश्किल है उन्हें बॉट आसानी से कर देता है। अँग्रेजी विकिपीडिया पर यह प्रयोग अत्यंत सफल है। हिन्दी विकिपीडिया पर यह बहुत पहले हो जाना चाहिए था, क्योंकि इसके इस्तेमाल के कई फायदे हैं, मसलन पृष्ठो का त्वरित निर्माण, उत्पात पर नज़र, श्रेणियाँ-उप श्रेणियां लगाना, पृष्ठों की इंटरलिंकिंग, वर्तनी सुधारना आदि। मेरी राय में बॉट का प्रयोग हिन्दी विकि पर भी होना चाहिए। मैं तो कहूँगी कि होना ही चाहिए।

Other than statistics updates, It can able to add similar template or message at any number of pages(includes article page, article talk page, user talk ,etc.,). For example if you want to add a template to many article pages, this bot will help to do quickly. similar if you want to paste as notification to all user talk pages, same bot will help you. if you provide me the list of pages or categories with the common template or message, I will run the bot to update the info to all pages. Basically this will be run with my concern, so it will not damage any article pages. There are also few experiments are going on to transfer images from local wiki to commons and more. I saw, your edits are correct but there is a problem. You have added a category about rivers on the pages which already have the category "Indian rivers". Means, we don't need category and it's sub category simultaneously. In this case, can you please explain, how will you find a template or category or a interwiki link for pages that is required. sanjib sir Most of the articles in hiwiki seems to be very, very short and not linked as well as uncategoriesd. it's easy to find them. it's better if we make branch of category as the branch seems broken there that page was categoriesd under Indian rivers and Indian rivers was categoriesd under world's rivers and Asian river and non of them comes under river (not rivers). In first case it showed you the error "Large deletion from article by new editors" and in second time it showed "Redirect to non-existent page". Why it happened? @चक्रपाणी: आपके सम्पादनों को शुरुआती तौर पर देखने पर ठीक प्रतीत हो रहे हैं। लेकिन मेरे कुछ प्रश्न हैं:

• इन परीक्षण सम्पादनों में मैं देख रहा हूँ कि सम्पादन की दर 1 सम्पादन प्रति मिनट से कम है। जबकि बॉट सम्पादन द्रुतगामी गति से होते हैं। मैं धीमे नेटवर्क के साथ भी सामान्यतः ३ सम्पादन प्रति मिनट से करने की क्षमता रखता हूँ।

• संपादन दर स्लो नहीं है बस इस बात पर निर्भर करती है कि आप क्या सम्पादित कर रहे हैं और कितने पेजों पर कर रहे हैं क्योंकि समस्या अगर अनेक पेजों में है तो संपादन दर स्वतः ही बढ़ जाती है और अगर अनेक पेजों में से कुछ एक पर ही है तो बाकी पेज स्किप होते रहते हैं और कोई संपादन नहीं होता जिससे संपादन/मिनट कम होते हैं अथवा 0 हो जाते हैं।
• AWB में एक ऑप्शन है जिससे इस तरह के रिप्लेस करने वाले संपादन करते समय वह, अगर आप उस ऑप्शन को ऑन रखते हैं तो अन्तर विकी लिंक,लिंक,साँचे, मैथ्स,व इसी प्रकार की अन्य चीजों को छोड़ देता है। अतः मेरे अभी तक के सम्पादनों में मैंने ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं देखा की ऐसा रिप्लेसमेंट कहीं हुआ हो।

यह खाता बना हुआ नहीं है और वैसे भी ऐसे कार्य हमारे यहाँ अनुरोध पर कई बॉट कर सकते हैं। खैर नेहल जी आप ये बताए कि आपने बिना अनुरोध किये 2-3 मार्च को (आज और कल) AWB से 5,000 के लगभग सम्पादन क्यों किये? आपने व्हाट्सऐप पर इस बारे में चर्चा की वो अच्छी बात है। पर यहाँ विकिपीडिया पर भी चर्चा का रिकॉर्ड होना चाहिये। व्हाट्सऐप सिर्फ बातचीत और आपसी तालमेल के लिये उपयोग हो सकता है। विकिपीडिया के सारे फैसले लेने के लिये नहीं। प्रबंधक सूचनापट पर आपको किसी ने भी ये सम्पादन AWB से करने को नहीं कहा। फिर आपने क्यों मान लिया कि ये सब करना ठीक है? बॉट की आवश्यक्ता के विषय में तो उपर समीक्षा हो ही रही है मैं सदस्य से कुछ और सवाल पूछना चाहता हूँ।

1. बॉट के साथ मिलने वाली जिम्मेदारीयों के विषय में आपकी राय यहाँ स्पष्ट करें।
2. बॉट में AWB से श्रेणी बदलने हेतु आप क्या करेंगे? कौन से विकल्प से ये कार्य होता है?
3. बॉट बहुत से पृष्ठों में एक साथ सम्पादन कर देता है, उसमें कुछ पन्नों में इस प्रकार का सम्पादन करना नहीं होता किन्तु बॉट एक साथ सभी पृष्ठों में कर देता है। एसे सम्पादनो को जाँचने और हटाने हेतु क्या करना चाहिये?
4. बॉट से आप वर्तनी सुधार कर रहे है तो चित्र के नाम आदि में बदलाव होने से गरबड़ी पैदा न हो इसके लिये क्या किया जाए?
