Translation request

Hello India!

I am from Austria and need information about a Viennese writer in Hindi - I want to surprise four Indian friends of mine who speak Hindi as their native language but work in Austria. We are all interested in contemporary literature and we are discussing a lot about German and Indian books. I would be pleased if someone could translate the Wikipedia page of the writer Klaus Ebner to Hindi. He is an author whose text I appreciate highly. Unfortunately there is no translation of his works to Hindi (nor to English, except some short texts). It would be a great surprise if I could present this author to my friends with information in their own language. If you would do me this favor, I indicate below the English and the German page, which have almost the same content.

Since there have been misunderstandings, I want to clarify that I do not ask for a "private" translation for me. Another german name

It'll be written as "डोरिस एंटनी" in Hindi. It can also be written as "दोरिस एंटनी". Actually in Hindi, there are two sounds for "Do". "डो" and "दो". Pronunciation depends on the context. The first one will be pronunced as "Do in Door" and the second one as "D in Dar es Salaam". I don't know that how do you pronunce this name, but a native English speaker will pronunce it as in "Door" and a native Japanese speaker will pronunce it as in "Dar es Salaam". --Rohit Rawat ११:०६, ३ अप्रैल २००९ (IST)

You havd specified for plural terms too but in Hindi language many terms are written as the same in singular and plural but when using a particular word in a complete sentence it becomes clear that you are referring to a plural term. For example Monkey has the same singular and plural बन्दर but if it's used in a sentence like this वहाँ पर बहुत से बन्दर हैं it is clear that one is telling that there are many monkies there not only one. We have already included links to Indian languages wikipedias at the top under अन्य भाषाएँ heading. Also on the main page under बन्धु प्रकल्प एवं अन्य भाषाओं में there are links to Indian languages wikipedias. So I don't think there is any need to include more and more links for same thing when it is already present twice. Logging in failed

I'm from tamil wikipedia. I used to visit other indian language wikipedias in order to prevent vandalism, revert incorrect edits, adding interwiki links, requesting articles, and discussions. I can't log in to hindi wikipedia with my login id since my id is blocked (names with tamil characters are blocked from logging in.). I complained about this in tamil wikipedia village pump. and i was told that hindi wikipedia uses old code in logging in pages and it was not updated. And also in language options european languages are displayed. It would be nice if any or all of the indian languages are added. This will ncrease good relationship among indic wikipedias. (See tamil wikipedia login page) Can anyone please update the code for the login page and help me to logging in? please reply soon- தமிழ்க்குரிசில்

I'm not an expert on technical issues but let's see if this works.

  1. Go to Ta: WP login page.
  2. Choose "keep me logged in for 30 days" option before logging into Ta: WP.
  3. Make sure your browser is cookies-enabled.

I do not believe that there is any character set that is restricted in its usage in account names, and you can check your account status at Special:CentralAuth. I don't see any issues with your account name, there are no blocks upon it, and no admin can secretly block an account from editing. WikiSangamotsavam - 2013 is our first attempt to invite and host selected members from other Indian Wikipedia communities. We are planning to invite our friends and well-wishers from 14 different language wiki communities in India to this most auspicious occasion hosted by Malayalam wiki community! We are also planning to arrange few scholarships for non-Malayalam Wikimedians who are interested in participating in this event. With all these, we expect this year’s conference shall become the largest outreach program any Indian wiki community have ever attempted.

As a part of WikiSangamotsavam-2013, we are organizing edit-a-thons, WikiVidyarthiSangamam (a conference of students interested in Wikimedia projects), WikiYuvaSangamam (a meetup of youth interested in Wikimedia projects), a computer training session for the differently-abled, a digitization drive to digitize the information regarding wetlands in Kerala and WikiJalaYathra, a wiki voyage through Vembanadu backwaters.

Hi, I noticed this on the WikimediaIndia mailing list: According to it, 800 students studying Hindi in Christ University Bangalore are enrolled in some Education Program which involves Hindi WP. Is the community aware that such a situation exists? The last time an education program from India happened, it destroyed the English Wikipedia while a similar one on the Simple English Wikipedia was struck down. Hi! Some years ago (in 2008) I received a picture about a most-perfect magic square from the Parshvanath Jain temple in Khajuraho named Chautisa Yantra. There is text above the square. Can anybody provide a translation and or additional details about this text?

United Nations seeks Hindi-English partnership

Someone at the United Nations made a post about a United Nations office doing data research on Hindi Wikipedia articles related to en:child marriage / बाल_विवाह. They are requesting a volunteer for a few weeks.

This is interesting because the United Nations is an organization with excellent information to share and a partnership between them and Hindi Wikipedia would be nice. At the same time, this proposal is probably a waste of time because the person who wrote it does not have basic understanding of Wikipedia, Wikipedia almost certainly does not have the information they want, and they seem to want a lot of volunteer time and are not making any promise to give anything in return. It would be great if they would do something nice, like apply a free license to their Hindi educational information which has a restrictive copyright on it. I am not sure how interested they might be in a compromise or a fair partnership.

It is गते पारगते गते in Sanskrit in Devanagari script. It seems to be a part of the Heart Sūtra mantra in Sanskrit गते गते पारगते पारसंगते बोधि स्वाहा (IAST gate gate pāragate pārasaṃgate bodhi svāhā). While the subjects of the articles he has created are (mostly) notable, the mistake of creating articles in languages he does not understand has led to extremely bad quality, probably at the level of unintelligibility. Unless local editors are willing to start a clean-up effort, I suggest that his contributions be deleted.
