आधिकारिक लिपि एक लेखन प्रणाली है। जिसे विशेष रूप से संविधानों या देशों, राज्यों और अन्य न्यायालयों के अन्य लागू विधियों में आधिकारिक होने के लिये नामित किया गया है। आधिकारिक भाषा के समान, आधिकारिक लिपि बहुत दुर्लभ है। इसका मुख्य रूप से उपयोग किया जाता है। जहाँ एक आधिकारिक भाषा दो या दो से अधिक लिपियों के साथ लिखी जाती है। चूँकि, इन भाषाओं में, लिपि के उपयोग में अक्सर सांस्कृतिक या राजनीतिक अर्थ होते हैं, कभी-कभी आधिकारिक लिपि की घोषणा की आलोचना संस्कृति या राजनीति या दोनों को प्रभावित करने के लक्ष्य के रूप में की जाती है। वाञ्छित प्रभावों में शिक्षा, सञ्चार और जीवन के कुछ अन्य पहलुओं को आसान बनाना सम्मिलित हो सकता है।

Chapter I - Decree 5 - Section 3 of the current Constitution (2013) states that Vietnamese language is the National language of Vietnam, but nothing states the Vietnamese Latin Alphabet (called as chữ Quốc ngữ) is the official script de jure.[1] Chữ Hán (Chinese characters) and Chữ Nôm sometime can be used, most in activities about the traditional cultural in Vietnam (e.g. Vietnamese calligraphy).
